Site redirect to existing domain not working

I am a new WP customer and cannot get my site redirect working. I’ve sent in 2 support tickets over the past two days and nobody gets back to me, so I’m trying the forum. I believe I have followed the instructions for properly changing the name servers at my domain registrar, and have purchased the redirect upgrade from WP. I’ve waited the suggested 48 hours and my registered domain <spiritworksonline.com> has still not been found.
Please review my account to see if something was set up wrong. I’ve contacted my domain registrar (GoDaddy has phone support) and they say everything is okay on their end.

Is this the error message you see?
Firefox can’t find the server at spiritworksonline.com.
Check the address for typing errors such as
ww.example.com instead of
http://www.example.com
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer’s network
connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web. -
Your site redirect upgrade is working, but there is a configuration issue on the domain’s end. You’ll need to contact your domain registrar about this.

My domain is registered with GoDaddy, and they have confirmed that the name servers I entered according to the instructions on the WordPress site.

There is still something wrong. When I enter my registered domain in the browser the site is not found.

I confirmed that your DNS is correct via a whois search, and this site, http://spiritworksonline.wordpress.com/ , is redirecting to http://spiritworksonline.com/ but I’m getting the “site not found error as well.
Can you log into the dashboard of http://spiritworksonline.wordpress.com/ ?

Yes. I can get the dashboard at spiritworksonline.wordpress/admin. I have temporarily disabled the redirect as I have content on the wordpress.com address that I want to have up and running.

I understand it could take some time (48-72 hours) to propagate the redirect through the internet. Do I have to have the redirect always enabled over this time period?
I’ve been switching back to the wordpress.com address to keep the site up and running, and then checking periodically by enabling the redirect to see if the site is found. If not, I disable it and check again later.
