Site redirect upgrade
-
I’ve changed my wordpress site address and want to buy a ‘site address redirect’ upgrade. I have followed the instructions but I can’t get them to work. When I click on ‘site redirect upgrade’ I am presented only with the option of redirecting FROM my new address. I need to find a link that will redirect TO my new address from the old one. Can anyone help please?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

johnstevensjs.wordpress.com is no longer available.
The authors have deleted this site. Can you confirm the address of the old site you want to redirect from? I would think you need to log in to the site you want to redirect. Is it the one above? I’m unsure if you can redirect a deleted wordpress.com address. I have added a modlook tag to ask if a member of staff can advise you.

Many thanks for responding. Yes, the old site address was johnstevensjs.wordpress.com and I have changed it to johnlooker.wordpress.com I thought I would then be able to buy the redirect. I hope I haven’t lost the chance! -—John

Was that site address deleted less than 30 days ago? If so a member of staff could recover it (although it would no longer contain any content). Then you could perhaps purchase a site redirect or at the very least leave a link at the old site address pointing to the new one rather than the current “deleted site” message that will otherwise remain there until the end of time.

Thank you. Yes it was deleted only 3–4 hours ago. Is there a way of contacting a member of staff, do you think? I couldn’t find a link on the WordPress site.
It’s all very frustrating. I thought I was following instructions. -
Would you like that address recovered? Note I said earlier:
I have added a modlook tag to ask if a member of staff can advise you.
As it is the weekend you may have to be patient until someone from staff responds to this thread .

Ok I remember now. Thanks so much for helping me. I’ll hang in there and hope a WordPress moderator (is that the right term?) responds and is able to recover the old site.
Just for your interest, the WordPress instruction on changing a site address seems to be very misleading. It tells us to create a new URL first and only then click on the ‘redirect’ link. I feel let down by them.
But I’m very grateful to you. —John -
Hi there,
I’ve restored your old site to your account, so you’ll now be able to add the site redirect upgrade.

Thank you Kokkieh,
I have now completed the redirect upgrade – and I am very relieved! Thank you for your prompt help; I had thought I was completely stuck!
yours
