Site redirect upgrade and HTTPS
-
Hi.
I am starting my own blog using my own hosted site, and i want to use the redirect upgrade. However, there is a note on this post: https://en.support.wordpress.com/site-redirect/
stating that site redirects will ONLY point to HTTP and not HTTPS Urls.Does this mean that i can’t use the redirect upgrade because I do have an SSL certificate?
If not, what do I need to do in order to get this to work properly?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there!
I’m afraid the post has only an example, so you can redirect to your own address even if you are using a SSL certificate.
Regards.

Hi! Thanks for the reply.
So the note is really nothing to think about?
Does it just mean that i have to write http:// in the url I am going to redirect to and not https:// ?

I’m really sorry, but you actually can’t made a redirect if your site is using SSL certificate. I’ve been read about it on the support page and this is really not possible.
I’ll try to tag this thread with modlook, maybe someone of the staff could have an insight.

Ok, thanks…
It seems strange that we can’t since https:// is really the new standard, but I’ll wait then for a reply from someone who can help me further along to get this done.
There has to be an alternate route…

At this time, you cannot use Site Redirect to point to a https URL. it is something that we hope to update in the future, but we do not have a timeline for it at this time.
