Site Redirect upgrade question

Hi there. I have a question regarding the Site Redirect upgrade. I’m a total wordpress noob so I’ll try to be as desriptive as I can and hope for the best.
I started this blog http://dompraczki.wordpress.com/ for an art gallery sometime last month. It’s not finished yet but it’s at the stage where setting up a domain name for it seemed like the thing to do. WordPress.com apparently doesn’t offer regional domains like “.pl” (this is a Polish site), so I bought the domain http://www.dompraczki.pl on a different site (home.pl).
I redirected the domain to lead to my wordpress blog, but as you can clearly see when you access it through the http://www.dompraczki.pl address, it’s not working as nice as I hoped it would. Some of the problems with it include:-when you enter it through the domain name I bought and click on the “Kontakt” page on my blog (or any other page for that matter) the adress in the navigation bar still remains http://www.dompraczki.pl (and not “dompraczki.pl/kontakt”). This is a minor thing but there’s more of those minor things that irritate me.
-my blavatar is gone when I use the dompraczki.pl adress to access the site.
-when I access my blog through the wordpress.com adress it displays the title of my page at the top of my internet browser (the “Galeria Współczesnej Sztuki…” thing), but when I access it through the dompraczki.pl adress it just displays the adress there or nothing at all.Those all may seem like minor things but I want the site to look nice and clean and professional and all those problems make it harder.
Now the first thing I considered while thinking about how to fix it, was doing what the “domain mapping” help page here said. Unfortunately that doesn’t work at all for me. The part where I have to update my domain name servers to the ones provided by wordpress etc seemed easy enough but when I do that and try to save that at my registrar it seems to reject all that, so I don’t think I’ll go this route.
Now I read up a little bit on the Site Redirect upgrade and how it’s easier than the mapping thing, but before I spend 12$ on that I wanted to ask if it will help me with all the problems I have currently and listed above.
So will the Site Redirect upgrade fix all my problems?
