Site redirect URL question
-
Hello,
I would like to redirect traffic from my wordpress.com site (laniscupoftea.wordpress.com) to my own domain (laniscupoftea.com). I read the site redirect information provided but I am wondering about the URL structure.
My current post structure is: https://laniscupoftea.wordpress.com/2015/03/31/ive-moved/
My new post structure is: http://laniscupoftea.com/2015/03/heres-to-new-beginnings/
Since these are not identical (the original includes the day, whereas the new url does not), will the redirect still work?
Thank you!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
The Site Redirect will only redirect to a link with the same permalink structure, so for example this post on your WordPress.com site:
will redirect to this link:
http://laniscupoftea.com/2015/01/24/international-tourists-take-yogyarkarta-by-storm/
WordPress is pretty good about handling different permalink structures, so it will try to find a post URL that matches that even if the permalink isn’t identical. However, we can’t guarantee it will always work when the structure is different on your new site.
If you’d like, you’re welcome to give it a try. As with other upgrades, if the site redirect doesn’t work the way you need it to, you can cancel it for a full refund. Please let me know if you have any questions!

Thank you for the information! I wasn’t aware of the refund policy – knowing that, I will definitely give it a try!
