Site redirect vs domain mapping
-
Can someone please explain the difference between site redirect versus domain mapping? I have a WordPress.com site that I would like to redirect to a self-hosted site, and, yes, I know I just used ‘redirect’ in that statement. However, I would also like to make sure I get all my stats from the WordPress.com site carried over into my self-hosted domain stats. Will doing the ‘redirect’ suffice in this request or is ‘mapping’ the correct process?
As of right now, duplicate content is published on the Internet, with one set of content at .wordpress.com and the other at my .com domain–Obviously, for SEO, I want to just have on set of everything. Please tell me that makes sense and someone can help clarify what I need to do. Thanks.
