  search comments – the widget on my site for search does not seem to search the comments. Apart from searching on search.wordpress.com is there some way of searching the comments on my site?

  For example i have put the word ‘golf’ in one of the comments on the site. If i search on search.wordpress.com for comments there are 97,000 results! I just want to quickly find the discussion on golf on MY site!

  Hi there,

  You can limit your comment searches on search.wordpress.com to your own site.

  To use your golf example you would search for ‘site:smsthebest.wordpress.com golf’ if you wanted to search for golf comments on your site.

  http://en.support.wordpress.com/wordpresscom-search/

  Thank you for that.

  However it is rather inelegant. Why can there not be a widget search tool that does that?

  I think being able to search your comments through a widget search tool is a great idea! I’ve submitted it to our development team as a possible enhancement to a future version of WordPress.com. Thanks for the suggestion.
