site search error page shows up as default home page
-
Thanks for any help with this. I am a beginning blogger and really need some good advice.
I used the search box on my site and got an error message,
“This is somewhat embarrassing, isn’t it? It seems we can’t find what you’re looking for. Perhaps searching, or one of the links below, can help.”I have removed the search function from the site as this is just a website not a “blog” and I am using static pages. Now when I put the url into the url field, I get this error default page instead of my home page. I can’t seem to remove it or change the landing page back to the home page. Sure don’t want folks going to my site to land on this page: http://ericdouglasyoung.wordpress.com/
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Since your site is set to private, I cannot verify one way or the other if your main page is working correctly not, so the following are guesses.
1. You have not set a static front page for your site and have no posts. If you have no posts, the default “blog” main page will have nothing to display and it returns an error. If this is the case, follow the instructions in the following support document to set a static front page. You do not have to set a “posts” page if you do not want to.
2. You have a cookie or caching issue with your browser. Log out of wordpress, clear your browser cache and cookies, restart your browser and then take another look.
