Site speed issues

I have been struggling with this for a long time, and I’m afraid this is just beyond my tech knowledge, so I’m asking for help.

My Page Speed Insights have always been pretty terrible, particularly on mobile.

The most common issues I see are:

    • Reduce unused CSS
    • Eliminate render-blocking resources
    • Reduce unused JavaScript
    • Reduce initial server response time (particularly on select AMP pages)

On the surface, I know what each of these mean, but I don’t know how to fix them. I’ve already stripped down as many plugins as I can, and I have caching and other optimization plugins running, but I’m not sure how many of them are causing more harm than good. I even updated my theme (to Gateway) in the hopes that something more modern would be better optimized.

I can get desktop speeds up to fairly decent levels, but I really want to get mobile onto the same page.

    Help!

  • Hi there,

Where are you getting your page speed insights from? I checked your site speed on GTMetrix and it appears to be quite optimized already.:

97%/A is pretty darn good, honestly. You must’ve worked quite a bit on it and it shows. I was able to load your site pretty quickly, especially given the decent amount of front-page content. Are you having any noticeable speed problems on your end?

I see that you have a Business plan and therefore you have access to our live chat support. Please start a chat session from the link below and we’ll help you look further into what you could do to speed up your site speed:
