Site Stat Referrers Question

  I am still pretty new to blogging here but one thing has been puzzling/really bothering me and I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on it. On my site stats page where it lists referring links I keep getting weird links popping up that in no way mention or refer to my blog. I assume it is just a spamming technique to get folks to visit other pages but I guess I am wondering how and or why they keep populating. Is this a normal occurrence for others? Thanks!
