Site Stats

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,

I recently disabled my Jetpack plugin during an attempt to diagnose a problem on my site. When I re-enabled it, all of my historical site stats data was gone. Is there any way to recover that information?

    Thank you,
    James

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there, in rare cases, when Jetpack is disconnected and reconnected, a second blog ID is inadvertently created. Did you happen to change the site address/URL while Jetpack was disabled, and if so, could you let us know what it used to be?

    Hi Kathryn,

No I did not change my site address at all. It has always been http://www.discoversoccer.info.

However, I will concede that I could not remember my log-in ID for wordpress.com when I attempted to reconnect, so it’s possible I had 2 and inadvertently used the wrong one. Would that make a difference and is there any way to check?

  • That is entirely possible, but we have no way to check or confirm that.

Were you using the WordPress.com Stats plugin prior to Jetpack?

  • Unknown's avatar

No. Prior to Jetpack, I used only Google Analytics.

  • Yes, I’d have to say it was swapping account then maybe.

Do you have any other WordPress.com accounts?

  • Unknown's avatar

I don’t think I have any other WordPress.com accounts, but I cannot be sure since it was so difficult for me to remember my log-in.

You might try regaining access to any other WordPress.com accounts by entering other email addresses you use here:

Thank you all for your help. If I did use a different account, I cannot recall what it was. The password is not the issue.

Is there anyway to find out about Kathryn (the original respondent’s) theory?

  • Hi there, here are some follow-up questions that may help us investigate further.

Has anyone other than yourself administered this blog or set up Jetpack for you? What are their usernames?

Has your blog ever been backed up to another location where WordPress is/was running? If so, can you provide the URL?

Do you recall the date when you originally installed Jetpack on discoversoccer.info?

Have you ever installed Jetpack for this site on a staging server/demo site or other site? What was its URL?

    Thanks.

    Hi Kathryn,

Thank you again for your follow-up.

Here are the answers to your questions:

    1. I had a web designer work on my blog design for a short project, but there is no reason why he would have done anything with Jetpack.

    2. My blog is hosted at GoDaddy. I do have a months old back-up there, but it does not have a second running instance there.

    3. February 2012. Do not recall exact date.

    4. No. Have never done that.

    Thank you.

  • Thanks for the info. I’ll post back after our team has had a closer look.

  • Hi again – could you please try disconnecting and reconnecting to Jetpack and let me know if your stats are back? We discovered a test blog you apparently once had at test.discoversoccer.info and have made a few technical tweaks based on that. Thanks!

  • Unknown's avatar

Oh you’re right. I did have that test domain up right before I went live. I did not realize I had Jetpack active at that time. Thank you for that.

Unfortunately, I have disconnected and re-connected, however that does not solve the problem. My Jetpack dashboard now shows my two followers, however, it still does not show my stats going back to February – in fact, it now does not even show my stats for the last two days. It shows July 27 and today only.

    Can we keep trying?

    Thank you again.

  • Thanks for checking and sorry that didn’t work.

In fact, it now does not even show my stats for the last two days. It shows July 27 and today only.

That is correct – unfortunately we can’t recover stats for that duration, apologies.

Jetpack appears to be connected currently with the user ineedanaskimetkey – is there any chance you can remember what other username or email you may have used previously so we can check our database?

  • p.s. as Chris suggested above, the lost-password tool may help you discover any alternative WordPress usernames you may have, by entering other email addresses you have that may have been used to set up a previous account:

    http://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword

I have no idea what it might have been if I even had an alternate. I tried: jcoberly, jamesacoberly, coachjames, discoversoccer, etc. They all come up as username non-existent

  • There is a user called coachjames – email j[…](email visible only to moderators and staff) – does that look familiar?

In the meantime, I’ve requested further input from our team and I’ll keep you posted.

  • Unknown's avatar

That is not me. I have never used juno.

Indeed, I was thinking about it, and since you folks were able to restore the followers, it must be the same account I am using now since those followers were on the account I lost the information on.

  • Sorry for the delay, we’re still looking into this.
