Site suddenly asking for password

HELP !!!!! My WordPress site has suddenly started asking for a password on all pages, including anyone who is trying to access the normal url, as well as when I am trying to access the dashboard via wp-login or anywhere else.
The format of password request seems strange as it doesn’t ask for a username – just a box at the top of the page saying Password. I am not sure where this has come from so don’t know what password it is asking for. When I enter something, including my WordPress passwords, it doesn’t give an error message or anything like that, just clears the box and stays like that . You will see the same thing when you try to access the site.
There doesn’t seem to be an obvious problem causing this and the site is not showing up on any malware or spam attacks. But as I cannot access the dashboard I cannot investigate the issue further.
It is being host by GoDaddy and when I spoke to them this morning they noticed that the NameServers were still with WordPress. I have now changed the NameServers as per GoDaddy’s instructions but it hasn’t made any difference so far.
We have added some new security to the site recently, but the site has been working fine after we did that, before this happened. It just appeared about 48 hours ago !
I am not a technical person so not sure what to do from here.

Hi there!
I just checked out your site and it came up without any kind of password prompt. I checked the status of your domain, and it appears to all be up and running on Godaddy now. This might have just been some kind of hiccup in the transition. When you change name servers, there can be a delay of up to 72 hours while the rest of the servers across the internet catch up. If you’re still seeing any issues, that may just be what is going on.
