Site Suspended – Cannot Export Content

  • Unknown's avatar

My WordPress.com site was suspended last week for reasons that I’m still not entirely clear about. I have queried the suspension but I’m not making much progress.

I have run the blog for the last five years and I have updated it with new content almost daily, in all those years I have never been told I’m doing anything wrong, but completely out of the blue my site was suspended – I am in the process of trying to get my suspension lifted.

In the meantime I’m having problems trying to export the content from blog. If I export all content, it looks as though it is about to do something but within 60-90 seconds the webpage refreshes and I’m left with a ‘this page cannot be displayed’ error message.

I can export partial data if I set the dates accordingly, but for some reason its only exporting the posts, and not the images attached to each of those posts. I have over 500 posts in total and each post has around a dozen images attached to it. If I have to manually add the images in a self-hosted WordPress blog, the work involved would be horrendous.

Can anyone offer any help or suggestions as to how I can export all of my data, including the images, and preferably the Theme too, as this doesn’t seem to be exporting, even though its a free theme that I used when I first set up the blog – but I can’t remember what its called, and its making the job of replicating my suspended blog on a self-hosted site really difficult.

I wish I knew why my blog has been suspended, I’ve done nothing wrong in five years and I’ve put so much effort and work into the site, and for it to just be suspended in the blink of an eye is soul-destroying.

Any help, pointers or suggestions would be really appreciated.

    Kind Regards,
    Wayne Smith

I’ve tried that, someone replied saying the reason for the suspension was because they don’t allow real estate listing services, but my blog isn’t a real estate listing service at all, its just a collection of luxury homes from around the world and when I explained this to WordPress support she just ignored what I said and told me the suspension wouldn’t be lifted.

As I say I’ve been publishing this blog exactly as it is for five years and I’ve never had any complaints from WordPress or had my site suspended before, and for this to happen now completely out of the blue is bad enough, but having it suspended for reasons that aren’t even correct is gut-wrenching. but my appeals seem to fall on deaf ears and despite two separate follow-up emails, I have not received a reply.

I’m in despair that I might lose five years of work because I can’t export the data, the last backup I did was months ago because I just assumed everything was safe on a WordPress hosted site – it never occurred to me that something like this might happen.

I’m pulling my hair out because it all feels so unjust and unfair.

The whys for suspension are not something the staff will discuss in the forum – and neither @galois can return your site to you anyway – however I have flagged this for staff attention, maybe they can help you with the export

Thank you both very much auxclass, and galois for your help – I apologise for raising the issue of suspension in these forums, I wasn’t aware of the etiquette but I’m grateful to you for flagging this for staff attention.

    Kind Regards,
    Wayne Smith

    You be welcome

you had some problems and were not able to get help with the export – so asking in the forum is OK

The stock answer from the staff in the forum is to refer you to the TOS people then to close the tread
