Site that used to be on WordPress.com is gone

Under All My Sites, I see three out of the four websites that have been long listed on WordPress.com. When I try to restore the missing one, I run into one of two problems:

On the Android app, it says the site is giving a 403 error trying to reach XMLRPC.

On the website it tries to sell me a hosting package. I have never had a paid WordPress account for any of my sites. I just use WordPress for stats.

Please advise how I can restore the prior situation.

    Thanks,
    Dan

  • Hi Dan, it sounds like the site isn’t hosted here and has an issue with its Jetpack connection.

On the website it tries to sell me a hosting package. I have never had a paid WordPress account for any of my sites. I just use WordPress for stats.

Can you confirm which site that is? The one you shared here seems to be working, but I’m wondering if I’m not looking at the same URL.

My error, apparently. The missing site is uumiddleboro.org.

  • Thanks for the URL; indeed, there’s an issue with your Jetpack connection. Try reconnecting it here. If that doesn’t help, the Jetpack support team will be better positioned to help. You can reach out to them via https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/jetpack/.

Thanks. I reconnected my Jetpack connection on uumiddleboro.org as you suggested.

For the benefit of any who are reading this, I then had to “connect my WordPress.com account” in the Jetpack section of the site dashboard. After that I was able to see the site in my WordPress (and Jetpack) apps.

    Thanks,
    Dan
