Site traffic dropped to almost zero after domain transfer

Recently moved my domain over to wordpress in OCT of this year. I’ve using wp to host the site for a few years now and thought moving the domain over would and the be final step. But now, def regretting this move. As my site traffic has dropped to just about zero.

I’ve been searching and noticing this issue had brought up a long time ago (2010) and its seems it’s happening now.

Does anyone have any tips? do I just to wait for a few months? was there something I missed on the wordpress side. As I thought with using wordpress for hosting + domain would avoid issues like this. but here we are.

Hello, did you change your domain name after migrating to WordPress? If yes, you should perform a 301 redirect from the old domain to the new one.

nope. the only change was where the site’s domain actually was.

what’s more annoying is this ad on this page to transfer my domain from google.

    1. wp didn’t pay me
    2. traffic stopped
    3. google handed off all domains to squarespace over the summer.

Hello, may I know if you are moving from a self-hosted platform to WordPress.com or just changing domain registrar only?

If your site is down while moving to a different domain provider. Search engines might temporarily reduce the traffic sent to a down site.

Please check your Google Search Console account to see if there are any issues there.
