Site transfer

I am considering to transfer my domain and website from GoDaddy to WordPress. With that said, does it mean that I have to still pay for both GoDaddy domain/hosting plans as well as WordPress plans (since I would have to pay for a plan in order to do the transfer)? Or would my hosting and everything else would be on WordPress after transferring?

  • Hi there,

You won’t have to pay GoDaddy for hosting, as we’ll become your host. So after you transfer your site’s content to us, you’ll cancel your hosting with them and take that existing site offline.

With regards to the domain, you have a choice: You can keep that registered at GoDaddy and just connect it here, in which case you’ll pay us for a plan for your site, but still pay GoDaddy for the domain.

Or you can transfer the domain to us completely, which means going forward you’ll pay us to renew the domain each year. The domain transfer included with your plan also includes one free renewal of the domain that takes place automatically once the transfer completes.

Is your current site with GoDaddy built using the open source version of WordPress, or their own GoCentral website builder?
