Site unavailable

My site is available via wordpress.com, but the domain is not available. I’m getting a server not found:
$ nslookup lukesimmons.org
Server: 127.0.1.1
Address: 127.0.1.1#53** server can’t find lukesimmons.org: NXDOMAIN
If I look in:
https://wordpress.com/domains/manage/lukesimmons.org/dns/lukesimmons.org
I have a cname for *.lukesimmons.org and an A-record as well as my NS record. According to the setting wordpress.com is hosting the DNS, but I’m gettin’ nothin’.
The domain does not expire until January 14, 2017.
I can administer the site without any problems. For example, I can surf into https://wordpress.com/posts/lukesimmons.org and add blog pages.
This blog was added via wordpress.com. Next->next->next. Nothing fancy. Simply added my domain. It went 2 months fine and then the DNS stopped resolving the site.
I’m at a loss for what to do next… Ideas?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
I see that you had lukesimmons.org registered and mapped to your WordPress.com site but then canceled domain and private registration on 2/29.
So, currently, the domain isn’t registered anywhere and it won’t work with your site with just the mapping subscription. WhoIS is still saying it is still available for registration, so I would go ahead and register the domain with us for $5.
Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!

It says specifically on my domains page:
lukesimmons.org
REGISTERED DOMAINIf I try to edit the domain I get:
Type: Registered Domain
Registered on: May 26, 2013
Expires on: January 14, 2017And that domain isn’t an option to register if I attempt to add a domain.

Hi there,
I’ll be happy to contact the registrar to see if we can restore lukesimmons.org to your account, but I cannot guarantee that we will be able to get the domain back. If I am successful, I can send you a manual payment request form for you to repurchase the domain.
I will let you know once I hear back from the registrar.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks!

Hi Luke,
We have heard back from our registrar. I have sent you a private email with your recovery options.
Cheers!
