site unmanageable with cookie management

  I set firefox cookies to ask me every time. Most sites it is just an annoying inconvenience. My WordPress.com dashboard becomes unusable. What are you guys up to? KISS

  Hi Steve,

  Can you explain what you mean by your dashboard becoming unusable? More details about what isn’t working for you will help me understand what’s going on.

  Also, are there particular cookies that you are blocking or is the issue just the number of cookies you have to manually accept while using your dashboard?

  Hi Rachel I’m sorry I didn’t provide more details in my initial post – I was a bit frustrated at the moment. I must report at this time I cannot reproduce the problem. What happened was the Firefox dialog box “this site wants to add/modify a cookie” popped up as I visited my dashboard – pretty standard with the cookie settings I chose. I clicked Accept for session, and another dialog popped up. Then two or three more popped up. I clicked on them but they wouldn’t go away. I tried Accept. I tried Deny. I tried accept for session. Eventually I clicked use my choice for all cookies on this site – which I didn’t want to have to do, but it made no difference. At this point I had over ten dialog boxes open requesting to set or modify cookies and more were popping up. I had to leave the page and quit Firefox. However, this morning the site seems to behaving normally. One dialog box pops up as expected as I navigate around the dashboard. Perhaps eventually it set all the cookies it needed to set?

  Hi Steve,

  Thanks for those details. I’m sorry for the trouble you had with all of those pop-up dialogs at once. Because of the variety of resources that are used in your site’s dashboard, there are a number of cookies there. However, once you’ve accepted those cookies they shouldn’t continue to cause trouble when you load and navigate around your dashboard.

  If that problem comes back and continues to cause trouble for you, please let me know.
