Siteground screw up

    Long story – short….

Siteground screwed up the transfer of my website – they simply did not do it correctly and never transferred any the plugins or theme files. They admitted this.

I have pointed the nameservers back to WP, but SG is still showing it is pointing to them on my account over there. There is no way for me to change it on their website. Their “support” staff is completely oblivious.

So my question is: Is changing the nameservers back to WP’s on my WP domain panel enough to get my website up and running again? My site has been down a week because of their mistakes.

Also if anyone has a wonderful host and can share who that is, I would appreciate recommendations. Siteground has been absolutely horrific.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m guessing your site was self-hosted since you’ve mentioned plugins your post?

If this is the case, then you may find appropriate support at http://wordpress.org/
You can find a list of recommended hosts at http://get.wp.com/hosting/.

Plugins aren’t permitted on WordPress.com sites due to security reasons.

    Good luck!

What is the exact URL starting with http:// of the site you refer to please?

I’m asking because this is wordpress.COM support and we cannot accurately answer questions posted here until we have confirmed the URL referred to and verified the hosting.

    Is it http://thespiritedquill.com/ ?

Be aware that there is no FTP access to wordpress.COM blogs and no blogger installed plugin capability. More to the point is that themes cannot be transferred.

I originally had my domain via Wp.com. I went to self-hosted and that’s when the problems began. I did have WP.org installed.

My domain is still hosted here, I just switched back the nameservers here and am hoping that will remedy the problem.

    1. The domain URL is correctly redirecting. It can take as long as 72 hours for DNS changes to become widely available. It is not unusual for the last place to flush their DNS caches to be your own ISP. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during this stage is to be patient. If you’re still not seeing your site loading at your domain URL then wait a few more hours, clear your browser cache, http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clear-your-cache-and-cookies and try again.
    2. There is no FTP access to wordpress.COM blogs.
      https://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/
    3. Blogger installed plugin capability does not exist on WordPress.COM blogs and aside from the plugins stated here https://en.support.wordpress.com/ecommerce/ which are exclusively for those with Business upgrades on their sies there is no upgrade you can purchase here that changes that reality.
      http://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/
    4. There is no transfer theme capability between wordpress.ORG and WordPress.COM sites. The only themes that can be used on wordpress.COm hosted blogs are here https://wordpress.com/themes/

Please tell us exactly what you think needs to be remedied.
