  It shows error while submitting sitemap.

  Please clarify.

  Please make sure you’re adding a TXT record rather than an HTML tag. Here are the full instructions:

  Hi,

  As per your support,

  “In a new browser tab or window, open your WordPress.com account and go to My Site(s) → Manage → Domains and click on the domain you are verifying.
  Select Change your name servers & DNS records, then click DNS Records to add the custom TXT record.”

  But there is no option available like change you name servers & DNS records.

  Pls help

  You’ll need a custom domain for those controls.

  In your case, please follow the steps specifically at https://wordpress.com/support/webmaster-tools/#google-search-console

  Pls read my support history.

  As you instructed, I have already completed that HTML Tag verification 2 days before itself. But still I had issue with sitemap error. That’s the reason contacted your support. Pls now tell me what have to be done.

  Just to make sure is not a caching or browser related issue. Can you please clear your browser’s cache or even try a different browser?

  Tried in another browser too.

  This is the error,

  “Your Sitemap appears to be an HTML page. Please use a supported sitemap format instead.”

  Pls help to rectify it

  When you enter your sitemap URL in Google Search Console are you adding it as https://evirtualsavvy.wordpress.com/sitemap.xml specifically?

  If you use some other formatting for the sitemap address, Google will reject it with the HTML message you mention. It seems that Google Search console is very sensitive about formatting of this URL as you can see on this Google Search Console support thread

  Hm, it’s definitely valid XML.

  It’s proper on this end, so you might need to get in touch with Google per https://support.google.com/webmasters/thread/6353519?hl=en
