sitemap from wordpress not visible to google
-
I verified my blog with Google about a month ago.
Yesterday I logged into the Google Webmaster Tools to check the info on my blog. It said that no site maps were found for this blog.
I then looked at the site map section of WordPress Support and was able to access the site map that comes with WordPress for my blog.
So I’m mystified.
If I need to do something myself to fix this, I’ll need step-by-step instructions as I’m not tech savvy.
Many thanks for your help. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m pretty sure you have to submit the sitemap yourself, Google doesn’t know there’s a sitemap of your site out there, you need to show it where it is. So just paste in sitemap.xml into the add sitemap in Google Webmaster Tools (Go to the Dashboard of Google Webmaster Tools, click on Sitemaps, then press the red Add/Test Site Map, and then put in sitemap.xml into the space and press the blue submit sitemap) and then it will take a few days to verify it (or whatever it does).

danielisreading, thanks very much for help! I did go to Google and submit the sitemap with your instructions. In one place it now says the sitemap is “pending” and that there are no new messages, and in another, it says there is an error and to resubmit. So I remain a little confused. I’ll check it again in a few days.
I’m also confused because the WordPress instructions about sitemaps say “No need to do anything extra on your end” – maybe I’m not reading that right, or, the verification meant previous automatic site map inclusion had to be re-done (?)
Anyway I’d like to leave this topic unresolved until there is confirmation from Google that everything went smoothly.

I found more information which says that the no URL’s have been submitted, and that it’s an “HTTP error: 404 not found”. I resubmitted and got the same message. I copied and pasted directly from the address line of the sitemap.
I have no idea what’s going on.
