Sitemap Shortcode
-
Not sure if I’m misunderstanding things but having seen https://en.support.wordpress.com/sitemaps/shortcode/ I tried adding [sitemap] to a paragraph block, code block & text widget as per instructions.
But all that is displayed on the page/widget is [sitemap].
This is a on a local/test/development site so cannot share any link but it is a copy of https://www.zemaitis-uk.com/
Do I need to do anything else to get the shortcode to work?

Hi there,
This is a on a local/test/development site
Ah okay, yeah those instructions are for sites hosted here. Our service has several extra features included. You’ll need a plugin for that feature to work on your own copy of WordPress.
Jetpack includes this and many other features we offer here:
So you’re welcome to that, or use another plugin of your choice along with its syntax. Hoping that helps!

Correction:
[sitemap] shows all pages correctly but [display-posts] just shows as “[display-posts]“.
So I’ve used Latest Posts block (set to max.) instead of the short code.
It’s now live: https://www.zemaitis-uk.com/site-map/
Just wondered why [sitemap] works but [display-posts] doesn’t?
Thanks!

The display-posts shortcode is powered by a different plugin, and not something added by Jetpack. On WordPress.com-hosted sites that plugin is included by default, but on stand-alone WordPress sites like yours you need to install the Display Posts plugin in order to use that shortcode.
