sitemeters disappeared on 3 of my blogs – why?

  • Unknown's avatar

    I have had sitemeters in the sidebar as links in my blogroll for months. Now they are gone and I didn’t touch them.
    What happened to them?
    Has anyone else had this happen to their sitemeters?
    Is this related to the sudden and astronomical increase in my stats? http://wordpress.com/forums/topic.php?id=6588&replies=15

    Mine works just fine, but alas no astronomical increase in stats. Sometimes I notice that various buttons don’t load, because the images may be hosted elsewhere and if it’s having bandwidth problems that could affect you. Might that be it? Do the links still work even if the images don’t?

    Gone- disappeared holus bolus – no word left – no code for link – nada – gone from all three blogs!

  • Unknown's avatar

    Freaky. You looked at the code and it’s still there? I am in Ontario, so dealing with a different ISP temporarily, but I wonder if your Telus connection is for some reason blocking them? Good luck dealing with their customer service department!

    @rain
    No this is not about telus. I opened my blogroll on all three blogs and edited each sitemeter entry. I carefully checked each one. They are correct. I saved them all again anyway. No joy.
    Bottom Line – the image codes are entered correctly and used to work fine but the sitemeters are no longer visible on the sites.
    I’m going to take a bath and relax now lest I get all worked up about this. ;)

    Mine is still there. Have you tried going to your Sitemeter account and seeing if there’s a problem on that end?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Mine are still there as well. Are you sure you didn’t remove it from a text widget or even remove the text widget my mistake?

    @drmike
    They were not in text widgets. They were entered into my blogroll properly just like the instructions from sitemeter for wordpress.com blogs said and displayed properly for months.

    I didn’t do anything at all. I can’t even say for sure when they disappeared because I don’t check them everyday. The code is still there in the correct image part of the blogroll entries but the meters are no longer visible.

    Edit: They stopped recording at sitemeter yesterday morning a 8:43 AM.

    I pulled the links widgets out of the sidebars (then unexpectedly the power went out.) My intention was to put them right back in but without power I couldn’t get to them. When the power came back on I forgot and posted above. So now I put the links widgets back in and the sitemeters are there and seem to be working. Why they disappeared in the first place prompting me to think of pulling out the links widgets and putting them in again to see if that would work remains a mystery.

    I’m having a Site Meter problem as well, starting about the same time as yours. Mie still shows up but isn’t recording stats. Well, it is but they’re two days behind. Site Meter is fine on my non-WP site.

    Do you have a WordPress.com blog or a WordPress.org blog? They are running very different software and we can only answer questions about WordPress.com here.

    Also, have you contacted sitemeter?

  • Unknown's avatar

    me too… I installed sitemeter into my wordpress.com blog and it’s not showing up.
