Sites Disappeared, How do I get them back?

Hello,
I am hoping to get help with an issue that has plagued me for a while now. My sites simply disappeared. They were the free plan sites so I don’t think my domains expired. I had set the sites on private and had registered these sites approximately 10 years ago and would type directly on the site so I lost all my articles. I log in to my profile and there are zero sites and it’s really distressing. I had been away from my sites for a year or so, only to come back and find them both gone. . .both domains are available when I try them on the domain search, does that man they’ve disappeared forever? I would really like to have my sites back. Can anyone help, is there anyone from the WordPress support staff that can take this up?

It’s obvious your ‘missing’ sites are connected to another wordpress.com account. What are the URL’s of those sites?

You are right! I was able to log in to another account and find my old sites. . . I was so happy! I logged out to reply to you but now I’m having difficulty logging back to that account as somehow they are under the same email. Incase I don’t respond again, know that I am grateful for your suggestion.
Wish me luck as I try to get back to that account again.

WordPress.com accounts can’t have the same email address as the email address is the unique identifier on this platform.

This creative mess had its own profile, perhaps because I had purchased the domain, but I was able to log in to the overall profile that hosted the site. I’m not sure how it happened but this profile (the one I’m responding with) is now where my private sites are. I had written so many pieces, I’m really grateful not to have lost them all.
Both profiles were under my email, have different usernames but are somehow linked. I don’t know how it works but I won’t log out this time to respond.

@staartmees since I’m not sure how the two are linked, I fear I may lose all my content. So I’ll pause on that for now, not until I’ve backed up all my stuff. But will do eventually, so thank you for the link.
@liamjamesoffical9 thank you for that, I’m sure it’ll help someone as they search for help. I am certain that logging in on another device is one of the things that helped me recover my sites.
