Sites down?

    What’s been going on with WordPress lately? I can intermittently update but then I get a 404 Forbidden page (egads!) or it just won’t recognize new text for me to update. Then it won’t load at all. I see others are also having problems.

    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

    Hi,

    We’re not hearing widespread reports of this nature.

    What browser are you using? Does it happen if you try a different browser? Are you using any browser extensions? Can you try disabling them and seeing if that changes things?

    Thanks for the response! I’m using Chrome. I tried MS Edge and got this: Hmmm… can’t reach this page. It looks like jaimerush.com closed the connection (I have 2 sites). I get the error on Chrome about it taking too long to connect. (see below)

    I disabled Avast security and Duck Duck Go, and was able to login and get the Update button, but when I clicked on it, I got 403
    Forbidden. Access to this resource on the server is denied!

    I disabled all extensions and tried a fresh attempt and got: This site can’t be reachedjaimerush.com took too long to respond.

    Everything is up to date on WP.

    Hi there,

    Those sites you mentioned are not hosted on WordPress.com, but rather are connected to your WordPress.com account via the Jetpack plugin.

    For jaimerush.com, the domain is hosted with enom: https://www.enom.com/ and the site looks to be hosted with Handyworks, LLC: https://handynetworks.com/

    I would reach out to your site host to check and make sure if things are okay on their end.

    Whois is saying that reachedjaimerush.com is not a registered domain, so currently it’s not owned by you or connected to any site: https://whois.domaintools.com/reachedjaimerush.com

    Thanks, Darnel! It’s actually just jaimerush.com. I’m not sure about the other hosting info. I’m hosted with accuhost. I will check with them and my designer. I’m not clear about the WordPress differences.

    Happy to clarify those differences for you!

    There are three different “WordPress” here:

    1. The free, open-source WordPress software which powers your website.
    2. WordPress.org which is the open-source project that works on the WordPress software and where you can get the software for free to use on your own hosting provider.
    3. WordPress.com which is a managed hosting provider of the WordPress software and with whom you’re contacting now.

    Accuhost should have the most information about the problem as a 404 error is a server error and since they’re hosting your site, they also manage the server and can better advise what might be happening here.
