SIZING & Photobucket

  • Unknown's avatar

I am in desperate need to know the sizing I should use when adding a pic on the blog
I am uplaoding all pics to photobucket and from there I am given the url code which I understand but what are the dimensions I should be typing in for a vertical and a horizontal shot ?
    thanks

Depends on which editor you’re using.

If you’re using the normal text editor, it’s height=”pixels” width=”pixels” where pixels is the measurememnt you want it. Your avatar here has the example of the code:

    <img alt='' src='http://a.wordpress.com/avatar/photojenicphotography-128.jpg' class='avatar avatar-photojenicphotography avatar-128' height='128' width='128' />

If you’re using the rich text editor, try clicking on the image itself and looking at the tabs.

    Hope this helps,

you have no idea how much I appreciate your help with this
this is what I have done
I have uploaded some photos on photobucket and once they are in my album I can just copy the code into the picture box …prob is I don’t know the dimensions to put ___ x _____ for a vertical or a horizontal
all I want to do is put a picture on my blog that is maybe 4 x 6 or a bit smaller just so that people can see it
    thanks for your help

picture measurements don’t work like that on a screen. What’s 4 x 6 to you is not to anyone else. It depends on what resolution their screen is at.

In all honesty, I think photobucket provides a thumbnail option. I would use that and left photots deside if they want to click through or not to the picture. Please remember the 70% of the net is still on dialup. You don’t want folks getting annoyed at you for forcing down too much data down their thin phone lines.

If you rather stay away from thumbnails, just pick a size like 200 x 300 and use that. Do remember though that even if you’re using height and width measurements, you’re still pushing the entire image down to your visitors.

Another thing to consider is all those slideshows and videos and what not on your blog’s home page. I can’t even load your blog with IE6 and 512 megs of memory. You may want to conside moving them to after a “Read More…” tag with using the More option.

I will try and see what photobucket has to offer
I completely agree with you on the slideshows taking so long this is why I am trying to do pics
how do I move them to the read more tag??
    thank you again

    Which editor are you using?

if the normal text editor, it’s the more tag along the top.

if the one with the icons, it’s the one that looks like a piece of paper with a dashed line in between.

What’s before the tag shows up on your home page. When you clikc though, you see the entire article./

    Hope this helps,
