Sizing a photo to post on blog
-
This morning, I tried to post a photo on my blog in the same manner as I always do. However, this time the preview photo was about the size of an 11×14, if not larger print. It took me awhile to figure out how to reduce the size of the photo but I was finally able to to so.
Just now, I attempted to post several more photos, but this time the photos were about the size of a 4×6 print. I tried several times to enlarge the photos in the same manner that I had reduced the previous one. However, nothing I did would enlarge the photos when I previewed them.
In both cases, I first posted them full size (793×1090). I then tried to adjust their size via edit image and then scale image. It worked on the first photo posted (this photo has yet to be actually posted, I have it saved as a draft), but did not work on the second attempt.
The majority of photos I post come from scanned 4×6 prints. I do not understand why one photo would be too large and the second photo not large enough, though both photos uploaded are from 4×6 prints and were to be posted as full size. I would like to have all my photos posted to be the size, that being roughly 6×8.
What am I doing wrong?

a) When it comes to computers and the web, you must learn to think in pixels. A scanned 4×6 (or whatever) image doesn’t mean anything: the pixel dimensions depend on the resolution you set.
b) Are you talking about images displayed as a WP slideshow, as on your latest published posts? If so, the slideshow has a fixed height: maximum displayed image height is 410px, so ideally you should use an image editing application to downsize all your images to that height before uploading them.
