sizing images: Museum template

Images don’t fit the layout space. Hovering the mouse over the image helps but not enough, is there an option?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi
Which images, specifically, are you referring to?
Here’s some specs regarding images sizes for the Museum theme:
Quick Specs (all measurements in pixels):
- The main column width is 740.
- Featured Images for posts and pages should be at least 920 wide and 920 high.
- The Site Logo will appear at a maximum height of 150.
Let me know what images are not displaying as you’d like and I’ll see what I can do to help.

Hello Melinda:
First off, thanks for your help and I’m really trying to get the ‘edwardbellfineart.wordpress.com’ site off the ground.
The intention is to post images and I’m finding formatting and appearance control difficult. I have check several image sizes and see that they vary but are typically 4000×3000 dpi. An image this size appears cropped. (?) Also, I would like to show long columns of images in each category but have any idea how to make that happen or even if it’s possible. Are you able to resolve some of the mystery here?
Thanks,

Hi Visard,
First, here’s a little bit of background as to how WordPress handles images.
The Museum theme that you are currently using automatically crops your images into square shapes for the featured images that are displayed on the homepage. If your images are not square to begin with, then you’ll lose a portion of your image.
If you’d like to use this theme, and have access to an image editing program, you can crop your images into squares on your own (that way you control exactly what part to keep) or you can even create images with white space around the edges, so that the full image will still show up. (Think of it as adding a mat to a photograph to make it fit into a larger picture frame).
But, to better showcase your paintings, you might want to pick a theme that will allow you to show the entire image, regardless if your image is horizontal, vertical or square.
Here’s a few themes you might want to consider, that will allow you to showcase multiple images on the homepage, but show them in their entirety.

Hope this helps!
