Sketch featured post-slider
-
I looked at this wordpress.com recent article http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2014/09/02/early-adopters-sketch/ and the featured blogs using this theme.
From what I can deduce, is that the features post slider only works if:
a) photos are the required maximum size 800x 600 etc. for landscape, etc.
b) One cannot have a list of blog posts underneath the feature content post slider area (header).c) Instead one must use the portfolio format with featured photo below the post slider area.
Please shed some light just to clarify for me.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there.
Not in the order you mention them, but:
1) The post slider is only available on the portfolio page (i.e. a page created using the Portfolio Page Template), not on the posts feed or any other type of page.
2) The slider will show both posts and projects provided a) the post/project had the featured tag assigned, and b) the post/project has a featured image of at least 800 pixels wide.
As the slider only appears on the portfolio page only portfolio projects appear under it.

You can have your posts appear on the portfolio page in Sketch via some trickery. However, it will not show a preview of the post’s content.
To have a post display on the portfolio page, view the post in your browser and copy the URL from the address bar. Next, go to your dashboard and create a new project under Portfolio -> Add New. In the title field (you don’t need to add any content to the project), add the following, substituting the post URL and post title where indicated:
<a href="http://post URL">Post Title</a>Before you publish the project, make sure to also assign a featured image that will appear as the thumbnail on the portfolio page.
When you publish, the image and title will appear on the portfolio page, but if people click on the title they’ll be taken to the post instead. This will not automatically update if you publish new posts, so you’ll have to do this manually each time you want a new/different post to display there.
You’ll need to create a separate portfolio project for each post you want to appear. In each case, assign a featured image, and put the link to the post in the title using the html I supplied above. If you want the post to appear in the slider, assign the featured tag to the post, not the “fake” project.
When you no longer want a post to appear, either delete the portfolio project linking to it, or replace the featured image and link with that of another post.

Thx for these tips! I’m also looking at Fontfolio, an older theme, which might do same a bit more easily.
