Sketch portfolio not displaying correct number of posts
-
I’m using Sketch (free) and when I first started setting up a portfolio, I decided on having 9 projects per page and this displayed fine. However for the past week now only 5 projects are showing at a time, and viewing ‘older posts’ just brings up another set of 5 projects, rather than showing groups of 9. I’ve double checked in Settings – Writing, and I have 9 selected as the number of projects to display. I’ve also tried changing the number but it still only shows 5. I’ve reset it back to 9, and still only 5 display.

Hi there,
In the Sketch theme, you can set up a page using the Portfolio Page Template, and that portfolio template uses the number of projects defined in your Portfolio Projects Writing Settings. You can find a guide to setting up that Portfolio Page Template here:
https://wordpress.com/themes/sketch/
However, I see that other portfolio archive pages in Sketch are using the “Blog pages show at most” setting from your site’s Reading Settings, instead of the portfolio setting in the Writing Settings. I’ve asked our team to look into that for you. :)

I’m confused on what you’re trying to tell me. Are you trying to tell me I’ve set it up wrong, or that there is an actual problem? I do have my blog to show 5 posts per page, so is the actual problem that that setting is over riding the portfolio settings?
As I stated already, my portfolio was working fine. Apart from the number of posts displaying it still is working fine so I don’t need ‘tips’ on how to set it up; I’m just looking for the number of projects it displays to be correct.

Hi there,
I apologize for the confusion. As the theme works now, only the Portfolio Page Template uses that setting under Settings > Writing in your site’s dashboard.
Other pages in the Sketch theme will display the number of posts or projects according to the “blog pages show at most” setting under Settings > Reading in your site’s dashboard, rather than using the setting in your Writing settings.
I let our team know about that behavior in the theme to find out if that’s how the theme is expected to work, or if that’s a bug. I will let you know as soon as I have more information about that, but for now you’ll need to switch to using the Portfolio Page Template or change the number of posts in your site’s Reading settings if you want to change how many projects show up on your portfolio page.

As I’ve mentioned twice before already, it was working correctly (showing whatever number I put under Writing settings) but just recently changed itself so I’m hoping it’s a bug.

Portfolio pages should now respect the number of projects you set for them under Settings > Writing. Thanks for your patience on this!
