Sketch slider

  I would like to create a front page for my website wednesdayprintmakers.wordpress.com exactly like the Sketch demo but really don’t understand the brief notes on the Sketch page, particularly in how to make the slider work. Is there a step-by-step guide anywhere?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi there,

  In order to make your site look exactly like the live demo of Sketch theme, you need to follow the steps in the section of “Portfolio Page Template” and “Featured Content” in https://wordpress.com/theme/sketch/.

  Hi thanks for replying. I have tried following the steps above but still no slider or anything that looks like the demo. I must be missing something but can’t work out what! I have been trying to make it work for several days and failing! Is there a sample page that can be overwritten ?
  Plus is there a way of creating a page but it not appearing in the menu?

  Hi again,

  Unfortunately, no.

  I’m giving you the step by step instruction below. These steps allow a slider to show up. Please follow it.

  1, Create a new page which you want to assign to the Portfolio Page Template, and assign it to the Portfolio Page Template through the Page Attributes module.
  2, Navigate to “Customize” → “Static Front page” and set “Front page displays” to “A static page”.
  3, Select the page you just assigned the Portfolio Page Template in step 1 as “Front page” and set another page as the “Posts page” to display your blog posts.
  4, Head to “Customize” → “Featured Content“.
  5, Enter the name of a tag.
  6, Click on the “Save” button at the top.
  7, Create a post, page, or portfolio item with a Featured Image.
  8, Add the tag which you set in step 5 into the post.

  A default menu of Sketch theme on the top-right part includes pages you create. If you don’t like it, you can create Custom Menu anytime. You can add and delete menu items whatever you want if you use Custom Menu.

  Thank you so much! I now have the front page working correctly like Sketch……the mistake was that I didn’t realise that all the images for the slider have to have the same tag….I was trying to add multiple tags. Plus it only seemed to work when I designated a blog page as well, even though I am not using a blog and so that is now hidden via a custom menu.

  Now if I can only find out how to get rid of the dates on the slider I shall be very happy!

  In order to remove the date on featured contents, you need to use Custom CSS function which you need to have the Premium plan or the Business plan to use. Please let me know if you have that paid upgrade. I’ll share the CSS code.

  Hello :) Sorry for asking again but I followed steps from your post And it’s still not working :(

  Steps:

  Do I need to create seperate empty page just called Blog post?
  Do I need to add something to Portoflio Page (I made steps 1 &2) because at front page there is no slider only title of page “Portflio Page”, horizontal bar and under is option “edit” and the center of the screen.

  Is there any way to delete this additional line of “Portfolio Page horizontal bar and edit option?
