Sketch theme – adding link to image.

  • Unknown's avatar

I’m using the sketch theme, and I want to have 3 images in a row, each image you can click on and it takes you to a different page. These pages I want to be able to add multiple images to.

The attachment pages won’t allow me to add additional images. I can add the page link to individual images using the ‘gallery feature’ however only through using the caption so its showing the web address in white text over my image. If I do it as single images it works. But doing this only allows me to put the photos in a list rather than the row format I want.

Is there anyway to make images clickable without showing the web address over the image and keeping the row format?

  • Hi there,

Is there anyway to make images clickable without showing the web address over the image and keeping the row format?

I’m not totally sure what you mean there. Could you check to see whether the demo site for Sketch has the effect you’re hoping for?

If it does, we can definitely help you get the same effect. I don’t think there’s a great way to hide the address you’re about to click to, though. So I’m guessing I’ve misunderstood.

Also, would you be willing to share a link to the site you’re working with so we can be sure we’re all looking at the same thing?

I’m not sure it does… The demo only uses attachement pages. So does that mean using this theme its not possible?

I’m trying to add a photo to explain what I mean but I don’t think its uploaded. Basically where the caption section is the https:// line is displaying over the photo.

    My site is https://kirstyhopkinsgraphicdesign.wordpress.com/

    Thanks

  • Could you upload the photo to https://wordpress.com/media ? Then update us here and I’ll take a look.

It sounds like you’re trying to take away the browser address bar, though. While sites *can* technically do things to modify the browser window if you use pop ups and javascript and all that, it tends to be a bad user experience, and we don’t do it here.

But, again that’s why I’m guessing I’ve misunderstood. Do upload the photo and update us to let us know it’s there; we’ll go from there. Cheers!
