SKETCH theme – can I make featured images display on individual posts and pages?
-
Hi, I just switched to Sketch theme. I like it a lot, except for one behaviour which I find really odd.
All of my posts and pages have featured images, and these look great on the portfolio page, and on the /blog page.
However, when you click through to an actual post or page, the featured image is not actually displayed at all. Other themes I’ve used place the featured image right at the top of the post or page. It seems really disorientating for the main image not to be there when you click through, and it seems like an odd decision for a portfolio-centred theme.
Am I doing something wrong?
Is there some setting somewhere that says “make featured image display at top of post or page?”
Or am I meant to add the image twice, once as the featured image, and then again as a regular image in the body of the text? If so, how do I stop the image displaying twice on the /blog page? Do I have to make sure the regular image comes below the “more” tag to stop it displaying twice?

Please check this thread which has answer to your question.
Sketch theme is not designed to display featured image on the post pages. You can have featured images for Portfolio pages like this and this portfolio project in your blog once you add the image to the project itself as well. Simply having it as a featured image only has it display on the portfolio page, not on the project itself.
To give you an example:
On http://850calories.com/, check this post: http://850calories.com/portfolio/850-calorie-challenge-rules/
which has a featured image (some sort of aerial view image) appear on the home page
and
a image on the project ( few bowls with beans and flour) .
You can however choose the same image for both featured and project images.
I hope I explained well. Please feel free to let me know, it this is still unclear.

Thanks for clarifying, this is what I feared.
I can see that it’s less of an issue for project pages, as the portfolio page doesn’t display much of the content of each page. But, if you look at the posts page of the blog you linked to, http://850calories.com/blog/ you can see that because the posts page typically does show content of each post (up to the read more tag), you can see where 2 almost identical images appear. Look at how this post http://850calories.com/2014/08/06/how-this-blog-started/ appears on the posts page http://850calories.com/blog/ (it’s the 4th post down at the moment). They’ve used 2 very similar images to get round the image duplication problem.
This isn’t an option for a lot of my posts though. The image is often central to what the post is about. It needs to be present both on the posts page and on the individual post. The “featured image” should be featured! Instead it isn’t displayed at all once you click through.
Weirdly, this seems to be an issue with a few of the portfolio themes, eg fontfolio. Not all though, Illustratr and Pictorico do display the featured image on individual post pages.
And a lot of other themes, twenty-fourteen, intergalactic, etc, also display the featured image.
I understand that themes are meant to allow personalisation and differentiation. But I think there should also be some consistency in terms of what the fundamental features of a theme do.
