Sketch theme not displaying portfolio on mobile?
-
I am using the sketch theme an have set it so my portfolio page is the main page, not the blog posts, and it’s working fine on my desktop browser but today I tried to view it on my mobile browser (iPhone, safari) and it would not display anything but any empty page that said Portfolio with my custom header.
Am I doing something wrong or is the portfolio style of Sketch not compatible with a mobile browser? Since Sketch is a portfolio theme this would seem to make the theme wholly inadequate. I’m hoping this can be fixed as I really like Sketch.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I don’t think the theme will appear on mobile as it does on your desktop no matter what, but that isn’t actually the themes fault – it’s simply what the mobile operating system is capable of.
Also you can go into your dashboard and choose to have your sites theme be compatible on mobile phones. Do you have this option checked? (in you dashboard > Appearance > Mobile)
WordPress has the mobile version of your theme as an option to allow you to make sure your site is compatible on all mobile phones. If you check that option it will make your theme look and work on mobile operating systems. But one consequence of making your site available to everyone including mobile users is that it doesn’t look the same as it does on your desktop, on a phone. That has to do with mobile operating systems. It does not have to do with the theme not working right.
As far as I know this will be the case no matter what theme you’re using or where – we have to wait for mobile operating systems to advance again and figure out how to make them work completely the same from phone to PC. It can also vary depending on a phone’s browser. Some mobile browsers are better than others. You could look and see if you have the mobile version of your theme turned on. But if you uncheck this option, chances are some will not be able to view your site on their phone – it all depends on the phone they use (it does not matter which theme).
Most websites appear different on a phone than they do on your computer. That is because the mobile version squeezes everything into a smaller screen and makes it functional to the user at the same time. Imagine trying to look and use a website that didn’t have a mobile version or was not compatible at all – you would not be able to read posts or navigate the menu, etc. So it’s a good thing we have that option or we’d lose site visitors. If this doesn’t help then I hope someone has a better answer for you. I’m sure your site looks great on phones even without the portfolio…

Sketch is a responsive layout theme http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/sketch/A responsive layout theme adapts to different screen sizes so that your website will work (and be optimized for) iPhones, iPads, Android and other mobile devices. When responsive width themes are viewed on mobiles sidebars appear below the posts in order to provide as much space as possible for reading.
The mobile theme is a completely different theme. When we use a responsive theme we disable the mobile theme Go to > Appearance > Mobile and disable the mobile theme
