Sketch Theme: Portfolio Header Slider
-
Hi guys! I recently created my wordpress site with the SKETCH theme. I think it’s a simple and great theme for showcasing one’s portfolio which leads me to my question. Is there an auto-play method to make the image slider header (portfolio section) automatically scroll unto next featured image (normally, it shows arrow buttons to switch from each featured images)?
My site is http://paoloramirez.wordpress.com/
Thanks you very much :3
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Glad you’re enjoying Sketch!
There isn’t an option to auto-play the slider. Just let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi Paolo!
Can I ask you a question? how do you make the slide on top of your page? I couldn´t make it, I could only put a fixed image. Thanks! -
Hi graficaparafiestas – you’ll find instructions for setting up the slider in the Featured Content section here:

If you get stuck at any step, just let me know.

Hi, @graficaparafiestas
See the Featured Content section here:

Thank you so much guys!
I have read the hole link but I still can´t make the slider with the 3 images.. like the demo :(The blog I need help with is https://graficaparafiestas.wordpress.com/

Try using a single word, in lowercase instead of “Portfolio Grafica.” For example: “portfolio” or “featured.” Then, add the matching tag to more than one post, page, or portfolio item.

Thanks so much!
I could! I used a single word and made two portfolio posts, as you said. Now, I´ll put more content, I´m just starting.
It´s a beautiful theme, thanks!

kathrynwp’s suggestion was the key. :)

Hi, my I add a quick question to this discussion?
Its about the slider.
Can I put in only posts.
Or can I put in also pages or projects?
Thanks for help, Maja -
Maja,
You can also add Portfolio projects to the slider, besides posts.
Just tag the portfolio projects with the same featured tag name as the posts to make projects appear on the slider alongside posts.
You can’t add add Pages to the slider though. Slider is to showcase your popular posts and projects. Showcasing pages in the slider is not meaningful.

m4i4b – just to clarify, in Sketch you can include posts, portfolio projects, or pages in the featured-content slider:
To set up Sketch‘s Featured Content area:
1. Navigate to Appearance → Customize → Featured Content.
2. Enter the name of a tag.
3. Click the blue “Save” button at the bottom.
4. Create a post, page, or portfolio item with a Featured Image.
5. Give the post the tag you declared under Appearance → Customize → Featured Content.http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/sketch/
Let me know if you have any other questions.

Ah, my bad!
I failed to notice last night, but the page is indeed added to the slider.
However it seems only 10 items can be added to the slider.
-
Yep, you’re right. The slider holds a maximum of 10 items – I’ll update the Sketch support page with that information.
-
Hi, thank you both for your help.
Yes, it was point 4. Create a post, page, or portfolio item with a Featured Image. (cited also by @kathrynwp) that made me believe that it is possible to include pages in the slider. However I cannot do it. I specify the featured tag in the theme customize section (I give it a name featured). I give set tag called featured to one of my pages and it does not work.
But it works with posts.
So its strange – if I can get my posts in the slider, why do I fail getting my ages into slider …
