[Sketch Theme] post slider
-
I used to have my portfolio set as my static home page with a big feature slider at the top (like the one in the theme showcase).
I recently switched my website to a different static home page. When I go to my portfolio page now, the big slider is gone.
How do I make the slider reappear again, or does it only show up if the main page is my portfolio page?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi! I think the slider only works if the Portfolio Page template is assigned to the homepage. The theme’s page doesn’t explicitly say so, but it does differentiate the Portfolio Page template to a portfolio archive page.

Hi Sarah,
Thanks for your reply. I do have the portfolio template set to the page, but the slider is still not appearing, it only shows all my projects: https://sincerelyloewe.wordpress.com/portfolio/

Hi Loewe,
I did a bit of digging, and found your old post about this. And @shawnajroberts did say that the slider should work with any page as long as it’s on the Portfolio Page Template.
Just to list them down again, here are the things that are needed to get the slider to work:
- Your page is using the Portfolio Page Template.
- You have a tag assigned for featured content in Appearance ->Customize ->Featured content, and you’ve assigned that tag to the posts you want in your slider.
- The posts that you want in your slider have featured images attached, and those images are at least 1272px wide.
You’ve done all these, right? I’ll tag this thread for the staff’s attention so they can help you figure this out.

Hi there,
The page at https://sincerelyloewe.wordpress.com/portfolio/ is your portfolio archive page, which will have the same layout as the portfolio archive page on the Sketch demo site: https://sketchdemo.wordpress.com/portfolio/
To make your static Portfolio page appear (the page where you set the portfolio page template) you’ll need to give that page a slug that isn’t “portfolio” so it appears on your site at a different link. (The link https://sincerelyloewe.wordpress.com/portfolio/ will always show your portfolio archive page.) You can change that slug in the Advanced Settings section of the page editor.
Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)

Hi Rachelmcr,
I have changed the slug on the Portfolio page to “design” and relinked it on the main menu, but the slider still does not appear.
https://sincerelyloewe.wordpress.com/design/The https://sincerelyloewe.wordpress.com/portfolio/ shows archive page as you have mentioned.

Hi there,
I checked your site’s settings, and I see right now in the Featured Content in your site’s Customizer section you have two tags listed:
featured, slider
You can only use one featured tag there, so you’ll need to choose just one of those tags to feature in your slider. If the slider doesn’t appear after that, please let me know and I’ll take another look for you.

Rachelmcr,
It worked! Thank you so much and everyone else who contributed :) Greatly appreciated.
