    Question 1:
    I have the portfolio template set up on my front page, all the portfolio items are showing but not posts. How do I get posts and portfolio items to show on the front page?

    Do you mean the post slider? The slider contains featured content. How to created featured content is explained in the Sketch theme support page under the Featured Content header.

    You’ve chosen a static front page. WordPress.com websites display either a static page or the posts page on the front page, not both. You may wish to include a link to your posts page in your primary custom menu. If you haven’t already done so, assign a page as your posts page, the page which displays your posts, at Settings > Reading (top). You may create a page just for this purpose and name it whatever you like. The posts page is often named “blog,” or “posts.”

    Question 2:
    How do I show only a paragraph of a post rather than the full post view like on the theme?

    I’m not sure which theme you are referring to. Do you mean the posts page of the Sketch demo? Some themes truncate post content automatically on a front page template. Sketch does not have such a feature. However, on any WordPress.com theme, including Sketch, you may use the More tag to truncate posts on the blog and archives pages.

    Question 3:
    Is there a way to show only certain portfolio items on a page?

    Yes. You may use project types and/or project tags to separate the projects into distinct collections. Then add links to those specific project type or tag pages to the custom menu. The method I’ve outlined is described in a bit more detail in the support forum topic Can I have multiple portfolio pages on my blog?

    Question 3:
    Is there a way to show only certain portfolio items on a page?

    Another option would be to use Portfolio Shortcode, with “include_type” or “include_tag” attributes included in the code, in pages or posts.

    @vandroxyne,
    The Sketch demo displays a portfolio on the front page. The rows of featured images, and the titles below the images, on the front page are links to portfolio projects, which are different than posts and pages, and are created with special project editors. Projects are similar to posts in that they have the equivalent of categories (called types), and tags.

    Themes with an optional grid-based front page that contains links to posts include:

    Themes with the Portfolio Page template option, where the content of the portfolio consists of rows of image and title links to projects include:

    Other themes have an optional page template (Grid Page template) where the featured images displayed in the grid link to pages. Themes with this feature include:
