Skewed pageviews
-
For months now, I keep getting more than 80 percent of my page views from a single post. A few other posts that follow this post in pageview performance happen to be related since they are all tagged with the same tag terms. My worry is that if this particular topic gets out of fashion, which it will eventually, I may not get any significant page views on my blog anymore. Recently I googled my site’s name and found out that a certain strange site is attached to mine. I followed the link only to discover that this site, tygpress.com, has on parade all the high-performing posts I’ve just referred to. I did some research and later disallowed comments, pingbacks, and trackbacks on my blog. But those posts still take up most of the traffic. I’m confused, really. Is it that my blog’s other categories are not getting any attention from viewers? So should I focus on this very narrow, short-term topic only? Or is my site being attacked by spam bloggers? Should I just close down the blog and begin afresh with a different niche? The blog I need help with is https://ralphnyadzi.wordpress.com Thank you.

Hi @ralphnyadzi, I took a look at your stats and don’t see anything alarming there. It’s possible the one post just resonated well with some folks who linked it from their own sites. It’s possible the title is better for search engines. It’s possible someone with lots of social media friends shared it and got a conversation going. I wouldn’t worry.
Just keep writing, and keep using these tips to build your steady traffic:
For what it’s worth, a few articles on my site get the vast majority of my visits, so I know how that feels. Maybe you can add links in that article to some other articles you’d like to showcase?
