Skip to Content when looking on mobile
-
Hello, I am new to this and I’m not the best at computer stuff. I have the Hever theme installed and when I check on here, everything is fine. However when I check on my phone, the theme doesn’t come up and it says “skip to content” at the top of the page. Then on the bottom there is a “Exit mobile version” button and when I click that, the page loads like it should. Any help would be appreciated. And sorry if this is a dumb question or has already been answered in a different thread. Thanks.

Hi there,
Not a dumb question – what you’re describing shouldn’t be happening :)
I see you’re on the Byrne theme now. Did you switch themes to see if that will help?
Your site loads normally for me on mobile, but I do see the “Exit mobile version” button at the bottom. I also notice that when I visit your site on mobile, the text
?amp=1is appended to the URL, and if I exit the mobile version that changes to?noamp=mobile, so this is coming from the AMP plugin on your site. When you checked your site on mobile, did you open your mobile browser and type the address into the browser address bar? Or did you type the address into the Google Search widget?
I’m guessing you did the second, as that would explain why you’re landing on the AMP version – AMP is a version of your site that has been optimised for mobile, and if enabled, visiting your site from a Google search result or a Twitter link will always load the AMP version.
You’ll find the settings for this plugin under the AMP heading in your dashboard menu, and we have an overview of those settings here:

Back to your original issue, what you saw happening with Hever shouldn’t be happening.
I tried replicating the issue on a test site with Hever, but I’m not able to, so would you be willing to set your site back to Hever and let me know if the issue returns so I can take a look?
If you prefer, you can also get help with this in real time by starting a live chat session at https://wordpress.com/help/contact. Your Business Plan gives you 24/7 access to live chat, and generally we’re better able to help with the more advanced features of your Business Plan site there, than here in the public forums for free sites :)
