Skylark theme featured category section

Hi I’m having a problem activating the featured category section on the front page of the Skylark Theme. (I would love it to look like the front or homepage of the demonstration page) I have marked the front page as the showcase page, added a slider and introductory statement but can’t get the content to go in below that. I have created a Category parent and marked my posts with that parent. Still nothing shows up on the front or home page. Can you help me out with that? Many thanks.

Yes! Thanks. For some reason it’s not working. I marked a post as a Category parent, and then marked other posts with the same category parent name. It does not show up on the Showcase page. Is there anything else I need to do? Many thanks for your help with this.
