SkyNetHosting MX missetting
-
Hello:
We recently allowed our GoDaddy hosting agreement to expire for a domain. Another member of our group was somehow able to set up hosting on WordPress and the DNS appeared to point to the new site. However, we have not been getting email (service provided by google mail). We have WordPress set up with the MX records pointing to the google mail servers as google suggested. However, the google mail set up app shows only a single MX record with priority 0 that points back to the domain name, which does not provide SMTP service. Thus, the DNS that google (and presumably the rest of the world) is getting the MX records from is not respecting the information we entered to WordPress.
Another thing we noticed is that the DNS for the web domain points to a server controlled by skynethosting, not to WordPress. Skynethosting also provides the DNS information for the MX records as far as I can tell. Is it normal for skynethosting to host a site set up on WordPress? Is it possible to get access the skynethosting cpanel to set up MX records even though we have never set up an account with them and have never hosted this site through them? Is this some kind of dodgy squatting thing going on?
Thanks for any information you can provide.
Anna
