Slide Show: Two Questions
-
1. Are there recommended limitations to maximum number of slides in a slide show for speed of loading. I have routinely used 15 or 16 with no problem, but when I went up to 23, my computer just spun wheels. We have a slow connection here in the boonies.
2. Also, are there any recommendation as to size of pictures? As a standard I use 640 x 480. Can I reduce size without losing clarity and will this gain speed in loading?
Thank you for your help

We don’t have any recommendations as far as maximum number of slides. That will depend on the size of the image and the connection speed (which varies from user to user).
Are you referring to the slideshow here?
That’s actually loading quickly on my side. I’d say you could experiment with adding a few more images and see how that affects page load time. Keep in mind that you might have a different experience than viewers on a faster connection. If you were to set a guideline, 20-25 seems like it would be appropriate for your connection speed.

That’s going to be dependent on connection speed as well unfortunately. I wouldn’t advise going any smaller though just in case you want to use the images for other purposes on your site (and want a bigger image). The size you mentioned (640×480) should allow you to use quite a few pictures before affecting page load.
