Slider header images not displaying on iPad

  • Unknown's avatar

Header image not displaying correctly on ipad. I have a slider as part of the sight theme. The slider images appear fine on mobiles but not on an IPad. They don’t seem to fill the full header space as they do on a laptop screen. They have been re-sized for the slider as per the sight theme but I can’t out why they aren’t looking as hot on an iPad? Please help.

    Hi there,

It looks like there is a slight issue with the responsiveness of the slider causing the image to be displayed incorrectly on tablets. I have reported it to our theme developers, and I will keep you posted on a solution!

Hi Jemery, just checking in my previous query around responsiveness of the sight theme on tablets. Doesn’t seem to be looking any different yet. Can you update me? Thanks so much

    Hi!

We’re still looking into this one and determining the best fix to put in place. I apologize for the delay! I’ll let you know as soon as you can expect this to be fixed.

Hi, sorry to chase but it’s been almost a month since last contact. Do you know if the below has been fixed? Also another Q while I have you – in my stats on daily visitors and page views – do they include spam views as I do seem to get a lot of spam comment in my spam folder. Thanks!

    Hi!

I apologize for the delay. We’re still working on putting a proper fix in place. I’ll keep you updated with the progress. As of right now, I don’t have an expected timeframe.

Regarding the spam views, any visitor that comes to your site will be included in the stats. Currently, there isn’t a way to tease out spam visitors that visited you site and left a spam comment from other viewers.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions!

    Hi

Just checking in again on the below. The slider still looks odd on the iPad and iPad mini. It was the key reasonI choose the sight theme and so I’m really keen to know if this can be resolved?

    Thanks

    Laura

    Hey Laura,

The good news is that this likely can be resolved. Unfortunately, however, we don’t have a fix in place yet. I’ll ask for another update and keep you posted!

Hi – it’s been so long since I raised the slider issue with the Sight theme on tablets. As my audience is growing I am increasingly aware of this problem. Is it something you intend to fix or should I consider changing themes?

Sorry to be a nag just keen to have this fixed.

    Hey Laura,

Our theme developers are going to take a look at fixing this today. I’ll update you by end of day with more info!

    Hey Laura,

Good news! This should now be fixed. One note, you will need to correct the featured image for the following post:

    http://feastwisely.com/2014/01/10/public-dining-room-balmoral-beach/

Just make sure the featured image for that post and all posts going forward are 640 x 290 px.

Let me know if you need anything else!

Amazing I’ll check it later when I have an iPad handy! Thanks so much – pass on my HUGE thanks to those who fixed it

    Hi again

Just checked the fix below and images appear to be appearing correctly. However during whatever you have fixed the appearance of the following post on the main slider is now lookin odd – basically the text on the right hand side of the slider has disappeared. Can you quickly fix this up for me and then it’s all good?

    Thanks

    Hey Laura,

Can you try shortening the excerpt on that post by placing the excerpt within the box as shown here?

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/excerpts/

You’ll want to leave the content in the post as well, but just place the first few sentences in the excerpt box. This should shorten the excerpt and prevent the post from being cutoff on iPads. For example, I experienced success when using the following excerpt:

Bowery to Williamsburg was an obvious choice for a hearty breakfast to end a weekend of feasting in Melbourne. The New York inspired café/deli is owned by Di and Will Keser. The husband and wife team have a track record of delighting hungry Melbournians at The Hardware Société, one of the CBD’s worst kept secrets.

Can you give that a try?

Thanks – that’s amazing, I didn’t realise the more tag was so effective. However that one post is still appearing blank on the home page slider when I view it on a tablet?

Other than that thanks to your help I have realy tidied up how the text looks on the slider.

    Hi!

In order to fix this, you’ll need to use the excerpt method mentioned above. Basically, the current post preview text (“Bowery to Williamsburg was an obvious choice…”) is a bit too long and causing an error.

Could you copy and paste the following text into the Excerpt field on the Edit Post screen?

Bowery to Williamsburg was an obvious choice for a hearty breakfast to end a weekend of feasting in Melbourne. The New York inspired café/deli is owned by Di and Will Keser. The husband and wife team have a track record of delighting hungry Melbournians at The Hardware Société, one of the CBD’s worst kept secrets.

That will shorten the post preview on the slider and fix the issue!
