Sliders in my website

I upgraded to a premium account but can’t find sliders as an option even when I use a theme that has sliders in it.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there!

Sliders are available based on the theme, purchasing an upgrade won’t affect this. You can find how to enable sliders from the theme’s information page. Here’s Coraline’s page:

    http://theme.wordpress.com/theme/coraline/

I don’t see a slider in Coraline’s features. Were you looking at another theme?

Yes I tried several that had sliders in the description but when I activate them there is no option to use them.

Is this because I signed up with wordpress.com instead of .org?

Nope! You usually have to use a particular set up in order for the slider to activate. Several themes involved creating Sticky Posts with Featured Images in order for the theme’s slider to activate.

If you let me know a particular theme you’re interested in, I can help you get the Slider set up!

Ok thanks, I really liked Splendido for instance. Or twenty eleven

    Okay!

In Splendio, the Showcase template includes a featured slider for Sticky Posts. So, you’d need to setup an empty page with the Showcase template and set it as your static Front Page. You will need at least 2 posts marked as Sticky.

In Twenty Eleven, to add posts to the Featured Post section, also known as a post slider, just mark some posts as sticky! This is sort of hidden halfway down the page, so I totally understand not noticing it.

Let me know if I can help you set up either of those themes! :)

Ok I just tried the twenty eleven theme and there is post slider option on the page or a featured post section. Is there somewhere I click to make this appear.

Also I do have some posts marked as sticky that have featured images.

Edit my previous post, there is no post slider on any menu I have found

Sorry about that! I forgot to mention that you need to have a page with the Showcase template in Twenty Eleven as well. Here are some steps to create the page that the slider will show up on:

    1. Create a new page. Don’t put any content on it. Select ‘Showcase’ from the Page Attributes Template drop down. Publish the page.

    2. Go to Settings > Reading. Next to ‘Front Page displays’ select ‘A static page’ and choose your new page from the Front Page drop down menu. Make sure you save down at the bottom!

You should now see your posts in slider format on your Front Page! Let me know if I can help you further!
