Slideshow
-
I had put up a slideshow of scenes from a campus at a Chinese college — no problem — and everything was working fine until I noticed today that the slideshow had been replaced by a black bar and the line: Javascript is needed to run this slideshow. What happened? Why was it working, then not working? Anyone know how to fix this? (Meanwhile, I edited it to make it a gallery isntead.) Thanks.

Sounds like you had a problem with your browser. Do the Cookie Dance: log out, clear browser cache and cookies, do a full restart.

Also, what is the name of the post, or better yet, give us a link to it so we can take a look and see if it works for us.
G’ Evening Rain.

Howdy. Been offline all day, just checking back in now. Gawker.com linked to me yesterday and my pals bought me far too many celebratory beverages. I may be a little slow tonight.

Sorry, I was away from my computer for a spell. I had put up a gallery instead but have tried to replace it with a slideshow and encounter the same problem, at least at my end:

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

There is nothing wrong with your slideshow. Your browser is having a problem with Javascript, so I suggest you troubleshoot that.

I’m trying to put a slideshow into my post. Uploaded photos from my media library, typed [slideshow] and hit Preview to check it. I see a black screen – no text about Javascript. I cleared out my cache and tried again. Same thing. What else can I try?
BTW, on other occasions when I have attached photos to a post and then insert [slideshow] – and the slideshow works – the photos are also displayed below. I find that if I delete the photos, they still appear in the slideshow. Is that how the system is meant to work?
Thanks!

I am seeing the slideshow just fine on your blog (for example, on September 12th post).
Did you clear browser cookies (not cache)? Is that how the system is meant to work?
Yes, as long as the images are “attached” to the post, they don’t have to be inserted/shown within the post.
