    How do I make the slideshow for the first page like on the example blog?

    Every theme has a detailed theme description page. This one is at Every theme has a detailed theme description page. This one is at https://wordpress.com/theme/twentysixteen and that’s where set up instructions for it and the live demo site link is found.

    You can use this link https://wordpress.com/theme/
    by adding the name of your theme to the end of it to locate the set up instructions.

    Scroll down a bit on that guide until you get to the Homepage Setup section. You’ll find information on setting up the slideshow there.
