Slideshow caption positioning

Hi, I’m hoping to get some assistance/advice on caption positioning for the basic WordPress slideshow block. I’m using the Creatio 2 theme (I’m fairly new to WordPress so I’m not sure if that’s relevant!)
I’m trying to get the image captions in the slideshow block to render below the slideshow as opposed to on top of the images themselves; I’m using images of art that need to be fully visible, and the default caption shadow overlay box blocks the bottom portions of the images. I tried using a few different custom CSS examples from past forum support requests, but nothing seems to work. Anyone have any suggestions? (the post in question is published privately but I want to change this sitewide on my site)

At this time the Slideshow block does not offer an option to place the caption below it. One alternative would be to use a Gallery. While the caption will show over it, clicking an image will offer a Slideshow-like experience while having the caption not on the image. Here is a guide to using the Gallery block:
