Slideshow captions
-
My slideshow captions have reverted to the original white with shadows, in spite of having been showing for weeks exactly how I wanted them, thanks to Rich’s instructions.
WHY WOULD THIS HAPPEN?
Is it that some coding I entered subsequently (for something else, I mean) affected the captions’ code?
How do I regain control over the captions’ colour in my slideshows, please? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I researched your site to look for a post with a slideshow with captions, and I found this one:
http://margaretrosestringer.com/2014/01/11/sliding-through-the-years/I also viewed the CSS for your site using my browser’s web inspector, and I found the following two CSS rules in your custom CSS:
.slideshow-slide-caption { color: #334127; text-shadow:none; }.slideshow-slide-caption { color: #000; text-shadow:1px 1px 2px #222; }Those rules aren’t specific enough. If you change the selector from “.slideshow-slide-caption” to “div.slideshow-slide-caption” then it should work.
CSS can be very particular that way. The order matters as well as how specific the selector is in the rule. Give the suggestion above a try and let me know if it works for you.

DS, m’ dear, you’re worth your weight in gold.
Buggered if I know why there are TWO of’em there: I thought I’d searched and found just the one. :-
Off to test you now.
;-)
THANKS! -
Nup.
No change.
I removed the second entry, which meant the first one should rule. The captions should be dark green without shadows.
But they ain’t.

You have an extra “.”
Instead of this:
.div.slideshow-slide-captionit should be:
div.slideshow-slide-caption:)

[embarrassed grin]
So I did.
I get to used to starting out all the CSS code changes with a stop that I must’ve done it without thinking.
Who, me? – not thinking?
Yup. Alla time …
Thanks so much, DS!!!!!!
