Slideshow in place of featured image

  As is in the them description, I have created posts with slideshows, and not putting in a featured image, understanding the space that would have a featured image would, in face, be replaced with a slideshow. What I get is a featured image anyway, even though, I didn’t select one, and the slideshow appears down in the content section. Please advise.

  I see this theme https://wordpress.com/theme/illustratr on your site at https://abirdintown.wordpress.com/ and if you read the theme description there what you describe is not a feature of that theme.

  On this site https://birdambitions.wordpress.com/2017/12/04/transcription-challenge-joshua-redman/ I see a theme that I cannot name.
