Slideshow Question/Problem
-
Hey everyone,
I did a project for a college journalism class and when I am trying to transfer my slideshow from their WordPress page to mine by copying the coding, it isn’t the same and isn’t showing as a slideshow, but each individual photo.
Check out my story for my college class here: http://journalism.indiana.edu/classwork/j210_cookman_fall2013/simply-soccer-ending-to-another-beginning/?preview=true&preview_id=1017&preview_nonce=1c835b9157
Notice it has a picture story by clicking the top photo. For some reason it won’t do the same transferring to my personal page on my WordPress account.
Any ideas or comments would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Sorry guys gave you the wrong link. Here is the correct one if the one above doesn’t work. Thanks!

I don’t see a slideshow on that link.
WordPress.com is different from WordPress.org. The code from your wp.org slideshow won’t work here on wp.com. Instead you must upload your pictures via your media library or by adding them with the “add media” button while editing a post (or page). WordPress.com then allows you to make a gallery or slideshow with a shortcode designed especially to work with this platform.

Here is information about the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org:

Thanks for the quick reply! That all is very helpful, but my slideshow on the “.org” page is a click on the first photo at the top and it pops out and allows you to select to the next photo. I was wondering if there is a way to do that on the “.com” WordPress. I guess I didn’t notice the .org and .com difference. Not helpful to me that the coding is different! HA!
Thanks again!

Unfortunately WordPress.com does not yet have such a lovely lightbox display option. Folks have been suggesting it for years, and for a while there was a way to do it with a css class (of a widget which is no longer available). There is also a way, but very complicated and theme dependent, using a css menu class. I used it for a while but when I switched themes I abandoned it…
There is this article which describes how to make a sort of lightbox-style pop up for single images—note that you need to have the custom design upgrade in order for it to work:
